About Our Pastor
Garrick Pang was born in Washington and has lived most of his life in the greater Seattle area. He attended Seattle Pacific University and the Northwest Campus of Fuller Theological Seminary. In addition to being a pastor, Garrick has also worked in higher education (at SPU), as a missionary, technology consultant, executive director for the National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families (NCPCF), and as a real estate professional.
Missionary Work - Garrick served as a missionary for six years and was one of the founders of Ambassadors In Sport (AIS) - a ministry committed to bringing the love of Christ to the world through the world's number one sport - FOOTBALL (or soccer as we call it). During his time with AIS, Garrick lived in Los Angeles, California, and Bolton, England, and traveled to more than 25 countries across the globe.
Pastoral Background - In addition to serving as a missionary, Garrick helped start Wellspring Christian Church in Bellevue, which later merged with Bellevue Christian Church. He then joined staff at Overlake Christian Church in Redmond, Washington, where he served as Bridge-Building Pastor as a part of their team to reach out "around the corner and around the world". He coordinated soccer outreach teams and camps (partnering with AIS and still running each summer), led and taught their Alpha Course, and oversaw twelve ethnic language fellowships who met as a part of the body life at OCC.
National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families - Garrick was the Executive Director for the Seattle Office of the NCPCF from April 2006 to October 2008. The National Coalition is a ministry committed to "Moving the people of God to embrace, live out, preserve and advance the truth of Biblical sexuality." During his time with the Coalition, Garrick spoke in churches, hosted and spoke at Men's Conferences, led workshops for parents, spoke for retreats and conferences, and served (and contiunes to serve today) on the Task Force for the Christian Network Forum for Sexual Health - a group committed to helping bridge the gap, raise awareness and collaboration between the Christian church community and Christians in the counseling and therapeutic community addressing sexual brokenness, addiction, and recovery.
Personal Life & Hobbies - Garrick loves soccer, golf, and playing the saxophone. He also enjoys martial arts, movies, and spending time with his family. He's just started blogging a short time ago and would like to get better--you can visit his blog site at http://pangpages.blogspot.com/. For the past five years, he has also served as volunteer chaplain to players with the Seattle Sounders professional soccer team and is very excited that MLS soccer has finally come to the Northwest!
Garrick lives in Bellevue with his wife, Anna, and their three sons.
He has been serving as our interim pastor since November 2008.
